Question 1085424: a) find the slope of the line passing through (8,-4)and (6,-2)
B) use the point slope form y-y1= m (x-x1) to find the equation of the line.
FOR A) slope I got 1
y2-y1/x2-x1
-2--4/6-8 = 2/2 which equals 1
FOR B) Y-Y1 = M (X-X1)
Y--4=1(X-8)
Y+4=1(X-8)
Y+4-4=1(X-8)-4
Y=1x-12
B) Y=1X-12
ARE MY ANSWERS CORRECT FOR A AND B???
thank you

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a) find the slope of the line passing through (8,-4)and (6,-2)
B) use the point slope form y-y1= m (x-x1) to find the equation of the line.
FOR A) slope I got 1
y2-y1/x2-x1
-2--4/6-8 = 2/2 which equals 1
FOR B) Y-Y1 = M (X-X1)
Y--4=1(X-8)
Y+4=1(X-8)
Y+4-4=1(X-8)-4
Y=1x-12
B) Y=1X-12
ARE MY ANSWERS CORRECT FOR A AND B???
thank you
Your calculation for the slope is WRONG, as:
Use the fact that m, or slope = - 1, not 1, to determine the equation of the line.
