Make the unknown number x
a number is decreased by 6
(x - 6)
and the result is multiplied by 3
3(x - 6)
then the answer is 15.
3(x - 6) = 15
Multiply out
3x - 18 = 15
3x = 15 + 18
3x = 33
x = 11
