The trail is the hypotenuse of a right triangle the altitude of which is 5100'.
The angle from the lodge is opposite from that altitude.
The sine would involve the opposite/hypotenuse=5100'/hypotenuse
hypotenuse=5100/sin 16=18,503', or about 3 1/2 miles.
