Question 1081181: An examination was applied to two groups of students, the first with 40 and the second with 50 students. In the first group, the mean score was 74 with a standard deviation of 8, while the latter had an average score of 78 and a standard deviation of 7. Is there a significant difference between the performance of the two classes at a level of Significance of 0.05?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! This is a two sample t-test
t df=88, 0.975 = (x1bar-x2bar)/sp((1/n1^2)+(1/n2^2))
This will give a t-test of -2.49 with a significance 0f 0.0149.
Based on the 0.05 significance level, there is a significant difference.
The formula is given there, a calculator for STAT TESTS 4, and fill in the information.
