Question 1080946: I am completely stuck on a word problem for my homework. I don't even know how to start my thinking process! Here's what it says:
"Charlie and Sharon have a circular pool in their backyard. They bought some fencing to put around the pool, but by mistake, Charlie ordered exactly the circumference of the pool. If they want the fence to be 4 feet from the pool on all sides, how many more feet of fencing do they need?"
Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! What they ordered is ft of fencing
where is the radius of the pool
------------------------------------
What they actually needed was
ft of fencing
-------------------------------
The extra fencing they need to order is:
------------------
They need to order about 25.1327 more feet of fencing
This is about 25' 1.6"
----------------------
This says that it doesn't matter how big the pool is, the
extra fencing needed is always the same!
