Question 1080921: Find 4 consecutive even integers such that if the sum of the first and third is multiplied by 3, the result is 28 less than five times the fourth.
Answer by gsmani_iyer(201) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let the consequetive even integers = x, x+2, x+4, x+6.
As per the condition, (x+x+4)*3 = 5(x+6)-28
= 6x+12 = 5x+30-28. Bringing the variable to left side,
= 6x-5x = 30-28-12
= x = -10; x+2 = -8; x+4 = -6; x+6 = -4
Therefore the nos. are -10, -8. -6, -4. Answer.
