You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Using the basic formula y = Mx + b, using the point (-1,-8),
we have x = -1 , y = -8 and the slope M = 3.
Substituting we have -8 = 3(-1) + b
-8 = -3 + b
add 3 to each side
-5 = b
So y = Mx + b becomes y = 3x + (-5) or y = 3x -5
