You can put this solution on YOUR website!
p = number of pennies
n = number of nickels

p + n = 175
p + 5n = 475

Multiply the first equation by 5.

5p + 5n = 875
p + 5n = 475

Subtract to get 4p = 400, so p = 100.

There are 100 pennies and 75 nickels.
