Question 1078541: The product of two consecutive odd integers is 9 more than 10 times the smaller integer. Find the pair of integers.
So far I have x^2-9x-9. I don't think that's right though and now I'm stuck. Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! integers are x and x+2
their product is x^2+2x=10x+9
x^2-8x-9=0
I think you used x and x+1 as consecutive odd integers. Consecutive even and odd integers are x and x+2 in both instances
(x-9)(x+1)=0
9 and -1
integers 9 and 11, product is 99 and that is 9 more than 10*9
-1 and 1, and their product is -1, which is 9 more than 10(-1).
Two sets of integers
