You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Madelyn has $4000 more invested in 4% fruit-and-vegetable stocks than she has invested in 7% oil stock. If the total annual income from these stocks is $1172, how much does she have invested in oil stocks?
Madelyn has invested in 7% oil stock. let the amount be $x
She has $4000 more invested in 4% fruit-and-vegetable stock : x+4000
the total annual income from these stocks is $1172,
7%x+4%(x+4000)=1172
multiply by 100
7x +4(x+4000)= 117200
7x +4x+16000=117200
11x = 117200-16000
11x =101200
x = 89200/11
x=9200
Madelyn has $9200 invested in the oil stock.
-----------------------------
9200+4000 = 13200
7%*9200+4%*13200 =1172
