You can put this solution on YOUR website!
7R+2P=4500
The 7:2 ratio adds to 9,and 5 times 9 is 45.
Therefore, 35:10 is the same ratio and 3500:1000 is also the same ratio, which adds to 4500.
3500 gallons of regular at 1000 gallons of premium.
System:
Reg+Premium=total
Reg=(7/2)P

A gas station sells a total of 4500 gallons of regular gas and premium gas in one day. The ratio of gallons of regular gas sold to gallons of premium gas sold is 7 : 2.
a. Write a system of linear equations that represents this situation.
b. How many gallons sold were regular gas? premium gas?
Let multiplicative factor be x
Then amount of regular sold was: 7x
Amount of premium sold was: 2x
We then get: 7x + 2x = 4,500
Solve this for x, and the multiply that value by 7 to get the amount of regular thatw's sold.
Multiply the value for x by 2 to get the amount of premium thatw's sold.
OR
Amount of regular sold:
Amount of premium sold:
Either way, you should get:
