You can put this solution on YOUR website!

simplify
y=+2%28x%2B3%29%5E2+-+8+
y=+2%28x%5E2%2B6x%2B9%29+-+8+
y=+2x%5E2%2B12x%2B18+-+8+
y=+2x%5E2%2B12x%2B10+...now factor completely
y=+2x%5E2%2B2x%2B10x%2B10+
y=+%282x%5E2%2B2x%29%2B%2810x%2B10%29+
y=+2x%28x%2B1%29%2B10%28x%2B1%29+
y=+%282x%2B10%29%28x%2B1%29+
y=+2%28x%2B5%29%28x%2B1%29+

factor
y=+x%5E2+%2B+3x+-+18.....write 3x as -3x%2B6x
y=+x%5E2+-3x%2B6x+-+18
y=+%28x%5E2+-3x%29%2B%286x+-+18%29
y=+x%28x+-3%29%2B6%28x+-+3%29
y=+%28x%2B6%29%28x+-+3%29

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2(x+3)²-8=2(x²+6x+9)-8
=2x²+12x+18-8=2x²+12x+10
So y=2x²+12x+10
And:
y=x²+3x-18
y=(x+6)(x-3)
