Question 1076213: In a three dice scenario, what is the probability of rolling any two dice the same? (three the same also counts).
For example, what is the probability of getting two or three 3's when rolling the three dice. Then, expand that to any of the six numbers.
Thank you!
P.S. This in regard to the casino game of sic bo. My friend thinks he has discovered a flaw in payouts in his favor, but he is wrong. I just want more ammunition to prove that he is!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! The probability of getting two threes is (1/6)(1/6)(5/6)*2+(5/6)(5/6(5/6)=135/216
The probability of three threes is (1/6)(1/6)(1/6)=1/216
The total probability is 136/216=17/27
The same would go for any of the six numbers.
The probability of getting any two numbers the same on any given roll is 1*(1/6)(5/6)=5/36, since the first number can be anything but then restricts the next two.
