You can put this solution on YOUR website! The inlet pipe can fill 1/6 of the pool per hour, the drain empties 1/8 of the pool per hour. In x hours, (x/6)-(x/8)=1/2
 multiply through by 24
 4x-3x=12
 x=12 hours ANSWER
 The inlet pipe will fill the equivalent of 2 pools, and the drain empties the equivalent of 1.5 pools, for half a pool.
