Question 1075723: What is the greatest number of squares with 7-inch sides that can be cut from a rectangular piece of cloth 19 inches by 35 inches?
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! assume the width of the cloth is 19 inches.
assume the length of the cloth is 35 inches.
along the width, you can fit 2 squares that are 7 inches wide each.
along the length, you can fit 5 squares that are 7 inches long each.
therefore the total number of squares would be 10.
there will be a portion of the cloth that is unusable.
that portion of the cloth will be 5 inches by 35 inches.
you can use it for something else, but you can make 7 inch squares out of it.
that's my opinion.
