A mathematics department is preparing a color supplement for its beginning algebra class. Two options are presented to the department chair. Option 1 to pay 35 cents per page to a local printer. Option 2 is to buy a color printer for $2,200 and print the supplement in the department for a variable cost of 13 cents per page. What total page count would produce the same cost for both option?

Let n be the amount of pages printed. Then:
Option 1=.35n
Option 2=2200+.13n
So, they are equal when
.35n=2200+.13n
.22n=2200
n=2200/.22=10,000 pages. ☺☺☺☺
