Let x=cost of a student ticket
Number of student tickets sold is 800-480=320
Now we are told that:
320*x+480*3=2080 or
320x+1440=2080 subtract 1440 from each side
320x+1440-1440=2080-1440 collect like terms
320x=640 divide both sides by 320
x=$2------------------------cost of a student ticket

640+1440=2080
2080=2080
