: Evaluate: f(x)= x^2 - 7x + 10; find a. f(0) b. f(5) c. f(-2)
Just double checking to see if I'm doing these right.
a. 0 = 0^2 - 7(0) + 10

b. 5 = 5^2 - 7(5) + 10
25 - 35 + 10 = 0
c. -2 = -2x^2 - 7(-2) + 10
4 - 14 + 10 = 0

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Your answers to a and b are correct. We usually write them thus:
a. f(0) = 10
b. f(5) = 0
but in part c., while you had the right idea, your arithmetic was a little off!
Let's go through it.
c.
f%28-2%29+=+%28-2%29%5E2-7%28-2%29%2B10
f%28-2%29+=+4-%28-14%29%2B10 Recall that a positive 7 times a negative 2 = -14
f%28-2%29+=+4%2B14%2B10
f%28-2%29+=+28
