Question 1072863: Hello I am new to polynomials and want to make sure I am doing them right I am supposed to write this in standard form and identify the degree 4x^3-5x4-2x+4+x5 I have multiplied and combined like terms so I have 4x^3-17x+4 now I think it is the third degree but unsure.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Do you mean, in terms of decreasing degree of x?

4x^3-5x4-2x+4+x5
maybe this is supposed to be 4x%5E3-5x%5E4-2x%2B4%2Bx%5E5 to start?

Start writing the highest degree term first, and then work downward.
x%5E5-5x%5E4%2B4x%5E3-2x%2B4.
