Question 1071494: The attendance at baseball games at a certain stadium is normally distributed, with a mean of 25,000 and a standard deviation of 1200. For any given game:What is the probability that attendance is greater than 27,500? What is the probability that attendance will be 25,000 or more? What is the probability of attendance between 23,000 and 27,000? What must the attendance be at the game, for that game's attendance to be in the top 5% of all games?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! z=(x-mean)/sd
a. (27,500-25,000)/1200=2.0833
probability z > 2.083 is 0.0186.
b. 25,000 or more is 1/2.
c. Between 23,000 and 27,000 is probability z is between -1.6667 and +1.6667, or 0.9044.
d. In top 5% of all games is z > 1.645
Therefore 1.645*1200+x-mean
x=mean+1.645*1200=25,000+1974 or 26,974.
The attendance has to be at or greater than 26,974.
