You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A wooden cube with a volume of 45cm3 is carved into the largest sphere possible. What is the volume of wood which must be carved off?
:
The side and the diameter of the sphere: 45%5E%281%2F3%29 = 3.5569 cm
then
3.5569%2F2 = 1.7784 cm is the radius
:
Find the volume of the sphere
V = 4%2F3pi%2A1.7784%5E3
V = 23.56 cu/cm is the volume of the sphere
:
45 - 23.56 = 21.34 cu/cm of wood has to be removed
