The absolute value of a real number x is denoted |x+| and defined as the "unsigned" portion of x, where sgn+%28x%29is the sign function.
The absolute value is therefore always %3E=0. The absolute value of x for real x is plotted below.
|x|.......... = sgn+%28x%29
…………...= -x for x%3C=+0
……………...= x for x+%3E=0

in your case |x=18|
will be:
18 and -18
