You can put this solution on YOUR website! a crate of twenty 375 mL soft drink cans is purchased at $1.68 per Liter.
if a crate of 30 of the same cans is advertised as saving an additional 10 cents per can compared with the 20 can crate, calculate how much the 30 can crate costs.
there are 1000 milliliters in a liter.
375 milliliters is equal to .375 liters.
if the crate has twenty .375 liter cans in it, then the total number of liters in the crate is equal to 20 * .375 = 7.5 liters.
at a cost of 1.68 per liter, the 20 can crate costs 7.5 * 1.68 = 12.6 dollars.
divide that by 20 and the cost per .375 liter can is equal to .63 dollars which is the same as 63 cents.
if the price per can is dropped by 10 cents, than the cost per .375 liter can is 53 cents which is equal to .53 dollars.
multiply that by 30 and the cost of the 30 can crate will be 30 * .53 = 15.9 dollars.
that should be your solution.
the 20 can crate costs 12.6 dollars.
the 30 can crate costs 15.9 dollars.
the cost per can of the 20 can crate is 12.6 / 20 = .63
the cost per can of the 30 can crate is 15.9 / 30 = .53
the cost per liter of the 20 can crate is 12.6 / (20 * .375) = 12.6 / 7.5 = 1.68.
the cost per liter of the 30 can crate is 15.9 / (30 * .375) = 15.9 / 11.25 = 1.4233333.....
your solution is that the 30 can crate costs 15.9 dollars.
