You can put this solution on YOUR website!
w = Washington's hits
s = Sanchez's hits
Both had 316 total.
You would write: w+s=316
Washington had 6 more than Sanchez
You would write: w = 6+s
Now we have to equations:
w = 6+s
w+s=316
Using algebra and substitution, we solve for w, then s.
w = 6 + 316 - w
2w = 322
w = 161
Then plug in 161 into w = 6+s.
161 = 6+s
155 = s
Sanchez has 155 hits while Washington has 161 hits. Quite a large number.

Two minor league baseball players got a total of 316 hits Washington had six more hits than Sanchez find the number of hits for each player
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The equations are
W + S = 316,
W - S =   6.
Now add the two equations and see what will happen.
