Question 1067936: Please help me to solve the problem 1) A town B is due north of A. A third town C is 10 km on a bearing 020°from A. If B is on a bearing of 290° from C, calculate (a) |BC| (b) |AB|
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Bearings are measured clockwise from North, therefore
:
Angle BAC is 20 degrees
Angle ACB is 90 degrees
Angle ABC is 70 degrees
:
tan(20) = BC / 10
a) BC = 10 * tan(20) = 3.64 Km
:
sin(70) = 10 / AB
b) AB = 10 / sin(70) = 10.64 Km
:
Note that (3.64)^2 + 10^2 = (10.64)^2
