Take 26 from the collection, for a moment (mentally, of course).
The updated collection will contain 645 - 260 = 385 cents and equal number of quarters and dimes.
Regroup coins in pairs, 1 quarter and 1 dime in each pair.
Each pair is worth 25 + 10 = 35 cents.
The number of pairs in the updated collection is = 11.
Answer. There are 11 quarters ans 11+26 = 37 dimes in the original collection.
