Your solution is absolutely correct!
I didn't quite understand your method of checking the solution though.
I was taught this way!
x%2F6-x%2F8+=+1 Substitute x = 24.
24%2F6+-+24%2F8+=+1 Reduce the two fractions.
4+-+3+=+1
1+=+1 Done!

you did it good, but you can put it together this way too:
x%2F6%28x%2F8%29= 1
LCD=24 ….this is ok

%284x-3x%29%2F24=1…..multiply by 24
4x-3x+=+24
x=24+
Then to check, you input 24 in the place of x
24%2F6+-%28+24%2F8%29+=+1+
43= 1
1+=+1
