What do we know from the problem?
S + T = 96
S = 2T + 15
Substitute the known value of S from the second equation into the first.
(2T+15) + T = 96
3T + 15 = 96
3T = 81
T = 27
If Tom sold 27 tickets, then Steve sold 96-27=69 tickets
Is 69 "15 more than twice" 27?
69 = 15 + 54
69 = 69
