Two variables: S :  my son, M :  me (present age).

M + (M-S) = 5S        (1)    ("When my son is my age, I shall be five times his present age")

S + %2850-%28S%2BM%29%29%2F2 = M%2F2    (2)    ("when our combined ages are 50, he will be half my present age.")

Answer. Son is 10 years now. My present age is 30 years.
