dimes = x+7
.10(x+7)=3(.05x), the value equation
solve
.10x+.70=.15x, now subtract .10x from both sides.
.05x=.70, multiply both sides by 100 and 5x=70
x=14 nickels and x+7 =21 dimes ANSWER
That would be 70 cents for nickels and $2.10 for dimes, which checks.
