| Question 1063503: A parcel of land covers 43,560 sq. ft. The parcel is to be divided into 5 lots which 2 are of the same size and 3 are smaller. The larger are 5/4 as large as the smaller. Determine lot area.
 My partial attempt:
 43560 sq. ft. = acre.
 Let A, B, C, D, E be lots.
 A = B.
 C + D + E = A + B + 1.25
 Unsure how to proceed.  Non-homework.
 Thanks.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! C=D=E are x, and their area is 3x A=B are (5/4)x, and their area is (5/2)x
 Their sum is 43,560 =(11/2)x
 multiply by (2/11) both sides
 x=43560(2/11)=7920 sq ft.
 3 of them is 23,760 sq ft.
 The larger are 5/4 as large or 9900 sq ft
 2 of them are 19,800 sq ft.
 The sum is 43,560 sq ft.
