Question 106145: write the linear system and solve the system.
during a recent telethon, people pledged $25 or $50. twice as many people pledged $25 as $50. all together, $18,000 was pledged. how many people pledged $25?
i need helo solving this well putting it in an equation im not really good at settin up equations.... thanks for the help i greatly appreciate it.

# of $25 pledges is "2x"; value of these is 25(2x)= 50x dollars

EQUATION:
value + value = 18000 dollars
50x + 50x = 18000
100x = 18000
x = 180 (# of $50 pledges)
2x = 360 (# of $25 pledges)
