Hi there,
The population of a town is 3,400 in 2000.
The population decreases at a rate of 2% every 20 years.
100% - 2% = 98%
98% = 98/100 = 0.98
2000 - 2040 = 40 years (2 x 20 years)
3,400 x 0.98^2
= 3265.
Hope this helps :-)
