You can put this solution on YOUR website! .
A hot water faucet fills a sink in 5 minutes, while a cold water faucet fills it in 4 minutes, and a drain empties it in 2 minutes,
If the sink is full, and both faucets and the drain are open, how long does it take to empty the sink?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think that the faucets fill a , as well as the drain empties a the (and not a sink).
At given conditions, 5-minute faucet fills of the tank volume per minute,
while a 4-minute faucet fills of the tank volume per minute.
A drain empties of the tank volume per minute.
So, the tank loss = = of the volume per minute.
Hence, it will take 20 minutes to empty the tank.
