Question 106081: My problem says that I am trying to find a phone company who is cheaper. Company Static will charge me $170 per month and company Ringer will charge me $89 per month plus $0.18 per minute. The question is telling me to make a graph showing when the two companies will cost the same amount. I know that to find where they equal the same amount I should set them equal to one another, I just do not know what to do after that. Please help!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! My problem says that I am trying to find a phone company who is cheaper.
Static= 170 per month
Ringer= 89+0.18 per month
----------
Let "x" be the number of minutes you use in a month.
------------------
Plan A: A(x)= 170
Plan B: B(x) = 89 + 0.18x
--------------------
Graph y = 170 as a horizontal line
Graph y = 89+0.18x
---------------------
Find the point of intersection or solve the following equation
89 + 0.18x = 170
0.18x = 81
x = 450 (this is the number of minutes when the two costs are equal)
