Question 1058646: Mimi joined UMUC basketball team since summer 2016. On average, she is able to score 30% of the field goals. Assume she tries 15 field goals in a game.
(a) Let X be the number of field goals that Mimi scores in the game. As we know, the distribution of X is a binomial probability distribution. What is the number of trials (n), probability of successes (p) and probability of failures (q), respectively?
(b) Find the probability that Mimi scores at least 2 of the 15 field goals. (round the answer to 3 decimal places) Show all work. Just the answer, without supporting work, will receive no credit.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! It is 1- probability she scores 1 or 0.
probability for 0 is 0.7^15=0.0047
probability for 1 is 15*0.7^14*0.3=0.0305; the 15 comes from 15C1, or that there are 15 possible ways she could score 1 field goal.
They add to 0.0352
1-0.0352=0.9648 or 0.965.
Given that the expected value is 4.5, and the sd is about 1.7, this is a reasonable answer.
