You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hi there,
Jack is 4 times as old as Lacy.
J = 4L..........Eq(1)
5 years from now the sum of their ages will be 85
J + 5 + L + 5 = 85........Eq(2)
Replace J in Eq(2) with 4L from Eq(1).
4L + 5 + L + 5 = 85
Collect like terms
4L + L = 85 - 5 - 5
5L = 75
L = 25
Ages currently are:
Jack = 60 years old
Lacy = 15 years old.
Hope this helps :-)
