You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If Linda and Jennifer's ages add to 25, there is no way that 18 years ago at least one of them, if not both, had a positive age.
Linda is x
Jennifer is y
x+y=25
x-18=2(y-18)
x-18=2y-36
x-2y=-18
-x+2y=18
x+y=25
3y=43
y=43/3
x=32/3
They add to 25
18 years earlier, their ages were negative
Therefore not possible.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let +a+ = Linda's age now
Let +b+ = Jennifer's age now
-----------------------------
(1) +a+%2B+b+=+25+
(2) +a+-+18+=+2%2A%28+b+-+18+%29+
------------------------------
(2) +a+-+18+=+2b+-+36+
(2) +-a+%2B+2b+=+18+
--------------------------
Add (1) and (2)
(1) +a+%2B+b+=+25+
(2) +-a+%2B+2b+=+18+
------------------------
+3b+=+43+
+b+=+14.333+
and
(1) +a+%2B+14.333+=+25+
(1) +a+=+10.667+
--------------------------
Linda is 10 yrs 8 mos
Jennifer is 14 yrs 4 mos
---------------------------
check:
(2) +a+-+18+=+2%2A%28+b+-+18+%29+
(2) +10.667+-+18+=+2%2A%28+14.333+-+18+%29+
(2) +-7.333+=+2%2A%28-3.667+%29+
(2) +-7.333+=+-7.333+
------------------------
really strange numbers. check my math and
get a 2nd opinion, too.
