You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Draw a right triangle in quadrant IV,
indicate the reference angle (the one inside the
triangle with one side as the x-axis) with an
arc:

Since matrix%281%2C3%2Ctangent%2C%22%22=%22%22%2Copposite%2Fadjacent%29,
label the opposite side to the reference angle as the numerator
of -7/6 which is -7 (negative since the opposite side goes
down) and the adjacent side as +6 (positive since it goes
right.

Find the hypotenuse by the Pythagorean theorem:

c%5E2=a%5E2%2Bb%5E2
c%5E2=%286%29%5E2%2B%28-7%29%5E2
c%5E2=36%2B49
c%5E2=85
c=%22%22+%2B-+sqrt%2885%29

We always take the hypotenuse as positive in trigonometry.
Label it %22%22+%2B+sqrt%2885%29

Now we just plug in the formulas for sin(2x), cos(2x), and tan(2x),
using opposite, adjacent, and hypotenuse to find the trig ratios
for x.

matrix%281%2C3%2Csin%282x%29%2C%22%22=%22%22%2C2sin%28x%29cos%28x%29%29

matrix%281%2C3%2Ccos%282x%29%2C%22%22=%22%22%2Ccos%5E2%28x%29-sin%5E2%28x%29%29
