You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let D represent the distance plane travels due east
D = rt 0r t = D/r
|Question States:
D/100kph + D/150kph = 4hr
3D + 2D = 1200
5D = 1200
D = 240km, distance plane travels due east
Checking:
240k/100kph + 240k/150kph = 2.4hr + 1.6hr = 4hr CHECKS!

The velocity of the plane in still air is 125 kph. The velocity of the wind due east is 25 kph. If the plane travels east and returns back to its base again after 4 hours, what distance does the plane travels due east?
-------------
t = hours downwind
---
d = 150*t - downwind
d = 100*(4-t) - upwind
150t = 400 - 100t
t = 400/250 = 1.6 hours flying downwind
d = 150*1.6 = 240 kms
