that the actual size things are shrunk down to
The factor for this map is +1%2F50+ in/mi

In terms of just units:
[ inches on the map ] = [ inches / mile ]x[ real world miles ]
Plug in the given data:
+4+=+%28+1%2F50+%29%2Ad+
where +d+ = the actual distance in miles
Multiply both sides by +50+
+200+=+d+
200 mi is the actual distance
