You can put this solution on YOUR website!

total investment = 6000+5000+3000 = 14000

total investment = 14000 dollars

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Person A invested 6000 out of 14000. So their proportion is 6000/14000 = 6/14 = 3/7.

Multiply this fraction by 5600 to find the amount person A gets:
(3/7)*5600 = 2400
So person A gets $2,400

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Person B invested 5000 out of 14000. So their proportion is 5000/14000 = 5/14

Multiply this fraction by 5600 to find the amount person B gets:
(5/14)*5600 = 2000
So person B gets $2,000
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Person C invested 3000 out of 14000. So their proportion is 3000/14000 = 3/14

Multiply this fraction by 5600 to find the amount person C gets:
(3/14)*5600 = 1200
So person C gets $1,200

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary:

Person A gets $2,400
Person B gets $2,000
Person C gets $1,200

Notice how their shares add back up to 5600
2400+2000+1200 = 5600
