Question 105354: I have been trying to figure out how to solve the system 4x + 3y = 11 3x - 2y= 4. I think the first equation is 2 but I am not sure. Please help.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! 4x + 3y = 11
3x - 2y= 4
=====================
Since it doesn't say which way to solve, I will go ahead and solve by elimination;
First lets multiply the first equation by 2, and the second equation by 3, and then add them together;
8x+6y=22
9x-6y=12
---------
17x=34
x=2
=============
Now that we know what x equals, lets solve for y;
4(2)+3y=11
8+3y=11
3y=11-8
3y=3
y=1
=============
