Question 1052864: Please help me with this:
An instructor believes that the average quiz score is a good predictor of final exam
score. A random sample of 6 students produced the following data where x is the average quiz score and y is the final exam score.
x _____ 80 _____ 50 _____ 60 _____ 100 _____70 _____ 85
y _____ 72 _____ 75 _____ 65 _____ 90 _____ 60 _____ 85
(a) Find an equation of the least squares regression line.
(b) Based on the equation from part (a), what is the predicted final exam score if the average quiz score is 90?
I appreciate your help! Thank you!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! The regression from calculator (x is in L1 and y in L2)
y=0.42x+43.27
This means the final exam score is 43.27 + 0.42* average quiz score.
So, if the average quiz score were 90, 90*0.42=37.8, and the final exam score is 43.27+37.80=81.07 or 81.
Note, the regression has an R^2 of 0.44, which is not particularly high.
