Question 1050791: Plane has a cruising speed of 200 MPH no wind, 500 miles with the wind in same time it took 300 MPH against the wind. Find the wind speed? Answer by josgarithmetic(39630) (Show Source):
SPEED TIME DISTANCE
WITH WIND 200+w t 500
AGAINST WIND 200-w=300 t d
Fix your problem description.
200 mph if no wind.
300 mph against the wind.
300=200-w because the effect of going against the wind is to REDUCE the speed, to below 200 mph, which is contradiction to 300 mph "against" the wind.
