You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
If a metal pipe 10m long has an external diameter of 12cm and a thickness of 1cm, find the volume of the metal used in making the pipe
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Outer radius is 12%2F2 = 6 cm.
Inner radius is 6 - 1 = 5 cm.
The volume of the metal is the difference of volumes of two cylinders
V = pi%2A6%5E2%2A1000+-+pi%2A5%5E2%2A1000 = pi%2A1000%2A%2836-25%29 = 1000%2Api%2A11 cm%5E3.
Here 1000 = 1000 cm = 10 m.
