(1/4)x + 4 1/3 = (1/3)x + 20 2/3
--------
Subtract (1/4)x from both sides to get::
13/3 = [1/3 - 1/4]x + 62/3

[(4-3)/12]x = -49/3

(1/12)x = -49/3
x = -588/3

x = -196

1/4x+13/3 = 1/3x+62/3 subtract 1/3x and 13/3 on both sides
1/4x-1/3x = 62/3-13/3
3/12x-4/12x = 49/3
-1/12x = 49/3 divide both sides by -1/12
x = 49/3*-12/1
x = -588/3 = -196 is your answer
