You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let g = Gins's age
let b = Bill's age
:
write an equation for each statement, simplify as much as you can
The sum of the ages of Gina and Bill is 20 years.
g + b = 20
In Five years time, Gina will be twice as old as Bill
g + 5 = 2(b+5)
g + 5 = 2b + 10
g = 2b + 10 - 5
g = 2b + 5
How old are Gina and Bill now?
in the first equation, replace g with (2b+5)
(2b+5) + b = 20
3b = 20 - 5
3b = 15
b = 15/3
b = 5 yrs is Bills age
then obviously
20 - 5 = 15 yrs is Gina's age
