length=x
width=x-6
perimeter is 2l+2w=82 or l+w=41, dividing everything by 2
x+(x=6)=41
2x-6=41
add 6 to both sides
2x=47
x=23.5 feet, dividing by 2
x-6=17.5 feet
Their sum is 41 feet.
Double it for the perimeter, and that is 82 feet.
