At 3:30 pm, when the carrier is 150 miles from shore, a scout planes leaves the carrier and flies to the shore and back to the carrier. You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3:30 pm--Scout plane leaves, carrier 150 miles from shore
4:15 pm--Scout plane is at shore, carrier 131.25 miles from shore (150 miles/200 mi/hr)=45 minutes (3/4)hr;
carrier travels 18.75 miles in 3/4 hour.
The two are closing at the rate of 225 miles/hour, and they will cover 131.25 miles in 131.25/225=0.5833 hours or 35 minutes. The time 35 minutes after 4:15pm is 4:50 pm.
